Susan
McTaggart-Dennis is the fine arts producer for CMU Public
Radio, with much of her time devoted to her weekday afternoon
classical music program. She also enjoys working with members
of CMUs School of Music on the program CENTRAL STAGE,
which showcases the performing talents of music faculty and
students.
Susan first came to CMU Public Radio as a volunteer almost
twenty-five years ago, while completing her undergraduate
degree in biology and health sciences, raising her young family
and working part time at J. C. Penney. As a listener
to the station, I was thrilled to be involved on the
inside assisting in the maintenance of the classical
record library (no CDs at that time!), says Susan. One
thing led to another and I guess I can say, On the way
to becoming a biology teacher, I stopped at public radio and
didnt want to leave!
Susan did complete her science degree, and has also done graduate
work in health sciences, music and broadcasting. She has a
continuing interest in health-related issues and now her volunteer
work carries her in that direction. She is a member of the
university-wide CMU Health Care Committee and serves on the
board of directors at Listening Ear Crisis Center, Incorporated.
Of course, music is an important part of Susans life.
She is a member of the Central Michigan Area Concert Band
of Shepherd and enjoys singing in church choirs and other
choruses. These activities are certainly enriched by
working at CMU Public Radio, adds Susan. Her other interests
include quilting and gardening.
