Homespun with Tom Ball

Hi, Tom Ball here.  I'm the host of Homespun each Sunday afternoon from 4-5 pm on CMU Public Radio.  Homespun is a program that focuses on the "traditional" side of music, although that can stretch from very old 78 rpm reissues to contemporary music of today. I follow the old adage, "there are only two kinds of music: good music and bad music!"  Hopefully, I'm focusing on the "good" each week.

I enjoy volunteering my time each week because I believe that there is so much great music that does not get heard on "commercial" radio and there's a need for this type of music to reach a broader audience.  Plus, I believe in public radio and all the outstanding opportunities it gives listeners to enrich their lives daily and weekly.

I also try to offer information about musical events in our coverage area each week if I recieve them on a timely basis.  You can send them to me via snail mail at the address listed below, or e-mail them to me.   I'm always interested in promoting your event, so let us know what's going on.

Tom Ball is the producer and host of the Homespun traditional music program, Sunday afternoons at 4 p.m.

Tom is our newest Marketing Representative and plays string bass in the seven-piece swing band, “Jive at Five.” He also sits on the board of the Wheatland Music organization.

Tom says he has the “degree of life” – experimenting and learning from life as much as he can!
He has enjoyed being part of the growth and success the station has experienced over the years. “I think my most memorable moment has been watching CMU Public Radio grow from a small station with two transmitters to becoming a large part of people’s lives in Michigan and Ontario,” says Tom. “Congratulations, CMU Public Radio!”

He lives with his (beautiful and talented!) wife, a kindergarten teacher, and their one cat.
