Children from kindergarten to third grade are encouraged to write and illustrate their own stories for submission. Each young writer will receive a certificate of achievement signed by Reading Rainbow host, LeVar Burton. CMU Public Broadcasting will select first, second and third place winners in each of the four grade level categories. First place winners will be entered into the National Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest and become eligible for the national contest prizes.
