Plant Sale
Plant Sale
Northern Michigan Master Gardener Association hosts its annual Spring Plant Sale 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 30, in the T-Barn at the Emmet County Fairgrounds in Petoskey.
Local Master Gardeners dig up and divide their favorite native and non-native perennials and shrubs for this event. These home-grown plants are acclimated to Northern Michigan so there is no need to harden them off before planting.
In addition to outdoor plants, the sale features a selection of houseplants and a Garden Marketplace with garden tools, tomato cages, pots, planters, bird houses, garden art and more.
Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions, and a Smart Gardening table will provide free gardening information on a variety of topics. New this year is the sale of plant seeds harvested from area gardens. Smart Gardeners have been meeting all winter long sorting and packaging seeds in preparation for this year’s Spring Plant Sale. Three packets of seeds will be sold for $1.
Other informational tables will include Wild Ones, Pickerel-Crooked Lakes Association, and the Crooked Tree Arts Center School of Ballet, which will be presenting “Queen Bee” June 12-13 in Harbor Springs. “Queen Bee” is an original ballet fairy tale telling the story of bees and the environmental threats they face.
Proceeds from the Spring Plant Sale will continue the mission of the not-for-profit Northern Michigan Master Gardener Association of funding educational events and community projects throughout the year.
