Sew What! Patchwork Pockets

Sew What! Patchwork Pockets

Declutter your nightstand necessities and create a cute & functional patchwork pocket caddy for your bedside. Instructor Kim Bigard will guide beginners to machine sewing and quilting in constructing multi-pocketed layers in coordinating fabrics. Students will learn some basic patchwork skills, how to create a “quilt sandwich” with their layers and batting, and create simple quilted patterns to stabilize the layers. Students can bring their own sewing machine or use our studio machines. Assorted cotton fabrics are available to pick from, or students may bring an assortment of yardage or fat quarters to create their preferred colorway. This is a great way to use up fabric scraps!

Each caddy will use 4-5 fat quarters, a mix of yardage and charm packs, or approximately 1 ¼ yd of fabric total.

This workshop will be held from 1-4 pm on Saturday, May 16, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at 111 E. Broadway, Mount Pleasant, MI.

Recommended age: 12 and up
