St. Ignace Annual Native American Festival
On May 23rd, visit the grounds of the Museum of Ojibwa Culture to experience the living culture of the Anishinaabe people. Visitors are invited to listen to the heartbeat of the drums, witness expressive dances, and experience the beauty of handcrafted art, birch bark, porcupine quills, and other natural materials shaped by both function and artistry. The scents of sacred medicines and the flavors of traditional foods complete this celebration of the senses.
Frankenmuth Dog Bowl
Dog-lovers can head to Frankenmuth on the 23rd and 24th for the Frankenmuth Dog Bowl—a free two-day family festival, and the world’s largest Olympic-style festival for dogs. Events include dock and disc dog competitions, sheep herding demonstrations, balloon glows and flights, wiener dog races, a pet costume parade, and more! Find out more at www.dogbowlfun.com.
Wheatland Traditional Arts Weekend
Join the Wheatland Music Organization for over 80 workshops in traditional forms of dance, music, crafts, vocal, and instrument instruction are provided. Trilobite Treasures @ Dennos Museum Center in Traverse City
Explore the life and death of trilobites, creatures once so plentiful during the Cambrian period that it was called the Age of Trilobites.
