The Little Traverse Conservancy and Top of Michigan Mountain Bike Association are partnering to expand the Boyne Mountain Resort by 36 acres.

The fundraiser is seeking to raise $300,000 to cover costs of the land and buy an excavator.

"Providing them with this new excavator would help for trail building not only here and on these trails," Lindsay Hall, development associate for LTC, said. "But other trails in the community that TOMMBA is working on."

She says the land will be assessed to determine if it makes sense to connect trails to the new property.

The two groups have partnered previously, in 2019, to build trails on the Tanton Preserve Property.

Lynn Wolf is the chair of TOMMBA. She says the project will help them get back to their roots with doing more volunteer-built trails.

"Maybe we get some things in there that are kid friendly," she said. "Kind of create a feeder of a place for kids to ride and work on their skills as they get ready for some of the bigger trail options."

Wolf said the new land will connect with the Boyne Forest Trails and will create public access.

LTC has already purchased the land, and the money raised will go into covering the costs of the purchase.

The team is halfway through to their final goal of the fundraiser.
