After two weeks of virtual National Political Conventions Michigan’s state Democratic and Republican parties are holding their own virtual conventions this weekend.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic Republican and Democratic party leaders will be meeting virtually.
The main purpose of the conventions is to pick party nominees for the State Supreme Court, the State Board of Education, the Michigan State University Board of Trustees, the Wayne State University Board of Governors, and the University of Michigan Board of Regents.
Green, Libertarian and other third parties have already picked their nominees for state races to be decided in November’s general election.
Republicans are meeting Saturday morning. Democrats are scheduled to meet Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
