Jack Ecker is the Digital Media Coordinator at WCMU Public Media, where he helps shape the station’s digital presence and tell WCMU’s story across Central and Northern Michigan. From managing WCMU.org and producing the monthly program guide to creating visual and multimedia content, Jack works to connect audiences with the programming and stories they love. He joined WCMU in March 2023 as a Student On-Air Host, Announcer and Production Assistant, giving him experience both behind the scenes and on the air.
Jack grew up in the Metro Detroit area near New Baltimore before making Mount Pleasant his home while attending Central Michigan University. He’s passionate about film, queer storytelling and all things media, and he’s an aspiring screenwriter who loves exploring how stories can connect people and create meaningful representation.
A proud Central Michigan University graduate student, Jack continues to call Mount Pleasant home. When he’s off the clock, he enjoys working out, playing video games, writing and watching films.
Jack says his favorite part of working at WCMU is being part of a team that’s not only hardworking and driven, but feels like family. With his own family living farther away, WCMU has given him a community and a second family here in Mount Pleasant.

On Nov. 1, Neil MacKinnon, Ph.D. became Central Michigan University's 16th president. He comes to Mount Pleasant from Augusta University in Georgia, where he was the provost and the executive vice president of academic affairs.
