Attendees were invited to participate in a silent walk and to climb stairs of the football stadium to remember those killed in the terrorist attacks 25 years ago Friday.

Jacob Steichen, a firefighter in Traverse City, was in high school when 9/11 happened. The attacked helped influence him to join the fire service.

Fourteen Michigan organizations are living by the phrase "Never Forget" by participating in the annual 9/11 National Day of Service. These community groups were awarded grants to help make service projects possible with many geared toward addressing food insecurity.
