The National Council of Dementia Minds is hosting a free, three-part webinar series exploring how changes in the brain can affect the senses, including taste, smell, touch, and hearing.

Each session is led by individuals living with dementia, offering insight into what these changes feel like.

Show appreciation for some of our endangered flying friends that call Michigan home. Led by instructor Cheryl Meyer, you’ll focus on capturing the charm, movement, and personality of birds through expressive painting techniques in watercolor. Each week in this 4-session course will feature a different feathered friend, and this class will guide you in bringing them to life on paper.

Perfect for beginner to intermediate artists, we’ll explore watercolor fundamentals such as wet-on-wet, layering, and texture while also learning how to sketch dynamic bird forms, render feathers, and create harmonious backgrounds. This series helps build your skills and confidence in watercolor.

This 4-week course will be held weekly from 1-3:30 pm on Thursdays, May 7-28, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway, Mt. Pleasant, MI. Select from the discounted full course or individual sessions.

Mini Masters is a delightful monthly acrylic painting class designed to inspire creativity in young artists. With step-by-step guidance, participants will create an 8x10 canvas masterpiece to take home. Perfect for beginners, this class offers a welcoming environment with no experience required and all supplies included. Whether you’re discovering art for the first time or nurturing a growing passion, Mini Masters is a wonderful way to enjoy a fun and fulfilling creative experience.

Mini Masters will be held from 5:30-7 pm, Thursday, May 21, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant.

Recommended age: 6 and up

Looking to enhance your drawing skills by working with a live model? Guided by instructor Matt Grimmer, students will have the opportunity to work from life with a model. The live model will change poses frequently, so students can work on creating shorter, quicker sketches which involve more movement. This is helpful for small studies and getting a looser drawing style.

This open studio will be held from 5:30-8 pm, Friday, May 22, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant
