In celebration of the nation's 250th anniversary, experience the original Broadway book and score of the beloved musical, 1776!

It's the summer of 1776, and the nation is ready to declare independence... if only our founding fathers can agree to do it! 1776 follows John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia as they attempt to convince the members of the Second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence.

1776 is a funny, insightful and compelling drama with a striking score and legendary book that puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the men behind the national icons: proud, frightened, uncertain, irritable, charming, often petty and ultimately noble figures, determined to do the right thing for a fledgling nation.

The Northland Players is a non-profit community theatre company founded in 1971. Their mission is to foster the advancement of drama, music, choir & dance. Their goal is to develop & encourage the understanding, taste & appreciation of musical & dramatic arts in the Cheboygan Area.

This studio class is for those who want to delve deeper into the artistry and craftsmanship of stained glass. You must have taken class with Paul or have recent stained-glass training with experience cutting glass, using the tools, including a grinder, and with the terminology.

Tools and some supplies are provided. You may need to purchase additional glass, solder, and lead came for more involved projects.

After registration, you will be supplied with the instructor’s contact information. Paul will help you select an appropriate project so your project plan can be ready for the first class. (Please – no lamps, or large projects.)

Preregistration is required.

You don't need to be funny… you just need to jump into character!

Take your improv journey to the next level! Build on the foundations of Level I and dive into improvised scene work - the heart of improv. Through engaging exercises, we'll develop characters, highlight relationships, and craft meaningful (and hilarious) scenes together. Strengthen your ability to "Yes, And…" by actively agreeing with and building on your teammates' ideas in a supportive and playful environment. This class is perfect for honing creativity, collaboration, and adaptability. Prerequisites: Improv level 1 or instructor approval.

Coach Ariel Rak studied and performed short and long form improv with Magnet Theater (NYC) and the N.J. School of Dramatic Arts and was a member of ComedySportz before moving to Midland. Ages 18+

Learn the fundamentals of observational drawing with an introduction to materials and their functions, perspective, proportion, composition, shading and more.

This is the second course of four in the Fundamentals of Drawing series with award-winning artist and instructor Julie Tyslicky. This course will build upon the skills learned in course 1 to further advance your technical art skills. Participants will learn how to utilize tools to sharpen their skills in drawing. You will learn more about observation with site measuring. Students will also learn technical skills in using grids, their many uses as a tool, and how it assists in portrait drawing, as well as one & two-point perspective drawing.

Fundamentals of Drawing 1 is required before taking Fundamentals of Drawing 2.

This 12-week course will be held 6-9 pm, Wednesday, September 16-December 2, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant.

Love Mah Jongg but not the cut-throat competition? We’ve got a seat for you! At Creative 360, Open Play is all about good games, good company, and keeping your brain on its toes—without the pressure to play like a pro. We welcome those who have had at least a beginning level class and are ready to spread their wings, build confidence, and enjoy the game in a casual, relaxed atmosphere.

Bring your National Mah Jongg League card and, if you have one, your Mah Jongg set. Don’t have a set? No worries! Just bring yourself and a sense of fun. Brand new to the game? In January, we will also offer beginner and advanced-beginner Mah Jongg classes to help you get started or sharpen your skills.

This event is part of the Living with Animals series sponsored by Andy and Donna Rapp.

Pairing field research with photography, Chris Neri and Nova Mackentley, founders of the non-profit Friends of Whitefish Point, use their photographic eye to bring people closer to nature and to highlight the need for conservation of species and their habitats. Join them for a closer look on how they see the world as biologists/photographers and enjoy some beautiful images from their various adventures.

Nova Mackentley and Chris Neri are a renowned pair of expert raptor and owl banders who lead field research and monitoring programs at the Whitefish Point Bird Observatory in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. They are widely respected for their long-term nocturnal migration studies, banding operations, and public education regarding northern owl species.
