For many Michiganders, living in remote areas or having no insurance can be obstacles to getting basic healthcare.
But one non-profit is making it easier for residents by offering a free mobile healthcare clinic in Mecosta County at the end of the week.
Remote Area Medical, or RAM, will be at Ferris State University's sports complex this Saturday and Sunday to provide healthcare services to those in need.
Sandra Hall is a clinic coordinator for RAM. She said they will offer medical and vision care and that the need for dental services are high.
"That's typically what we see the most demand for at all of our clinics," she explained. "It can vary from place to place but that is typically what we see."
Hall said women's medical care, mammograms and some podiatry services will also be offered this weekend.
She recommended patients space out their care by getting dental one day and vision the next.
"You can do medical services with either of those just not all of them in one day," she said.
The clinic does not require health insurance or ask for identification. Doors open each day at 6 a.m. and patients are urged to get there as soon as possible.
For more information, patients can visit the Facebook event, RAM's website or call 865-579-1530.
