Dear friends of WCMU,
You may have seen news this week of the dissolving of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) after 58 years of service to the American people. We want to reassure you: this does notmean the end of NPR, PBS, or WCMU Public Media.
CPB has been a funding and support organization, it does not produce programs or operate stations. NPR and PBS are independent content organizations, and WCMU is a locally owned and operated public media service, licensed to Central Michigan University. WCMU is supported by a diverse mix of local member donations, university support, underwriting, grants, and other community-based funding.
While the loss of CPB is a challenge for public media nationwide, it does not shut us down. WCMU remains here to serve our region with trusted journalism, educational programming, and cultural connection—because our foundation is you, our community.
Thank you for your continued trust and support of WCMU Public Media.
With gratitude,
Rick Westover
General Manager
WCMU Public Media
