Make an Even Greater Impact with a Gift of Stock

You can enhance your support of WCMU Public Media by donating appreciated securities or closely held stock. This type of gift may qualify for an income tax deduction and can also help you reduce or avoid capital gains taxes.

To make a stock gift, please ask your broker to transfer (“DTC”) your securities to Central Michigan University’s brokerage account at Stifel in Midland, Michigan, using the following information:

  • Stifel
  • DTC #: 0793
  • Account #: 76326444
  • Federal ID #: 38‐6004447
  • Contact: Dennis Stolz, 989‐941‐3507

The official gift date will be the day CMU’s account is credited with the stock. For securities traded on an exchange, the value is determined using the IRS method: the average of the day’s high and low share prices.

For questions or additional information, please contact Morgan Hales at curti1mm@cmich.edu or 989‐774‐1540.

Cryptocurrency

WCMU Public Media recognizes the role of Bitcoin and other types of cryptocurrency in today’s economy and welcomes gifts of cryptocurrency.

The IRS has classified cryptocurrency as a form of property for tax purposes. If you gift Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies to WCMU, you may not be required to pay capital gains tax on the donated funds and may be eligible to claim a deduction. Please consult your tax advisor.

All contributions of cryptocurrency are converted to cash immediately upon acceptance and cannot be refunded for any reason.

Please send only the exact cryptocurrency you have selected. Do not send any other cryptocurrencies (including layer 2, wrapped tokens, NFTs or other ERC-20 tokens not listed) as these are unsupported and may result in loss of donation. To learn more, visit The Giving Block FAQ.
