WCMU Public Media has earned two Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), recognizing excellence in broadcast and digital journalism.

The honors celebrate the legacy of legendary journalist Edward R. Murrow and recognize outstanding achievement in reporting, storytelling, and public service journalism.

WCMU received Regional Murrow Awards in the following categories:

Excellence in Writing
Hard News

The Murrow Awards are among the most respected honors in journalism, recognizing stories that serve the public interest, spark meaningful conversation, and uphold the highest ethical standards in reporting.

The award-winning stories were reported by former WCMU reporter Teresa Homsi, with support from WCMU’s news staff through editing, production, digital publishing, and on-air delivery.

The recognition highlights WCMU’s continued commitment to providing accurate, impactful, and community-focused journalism throughout central and northern Michigan.

Both award-winning entries will now advance to the national round of the Edward R. Murrow Awards competition, with national winners scheduled to be announced in August.

Renee Mahon is the Marketing Manager at WCMU Public Media, where she and her team help the station tell its own story across Central and Northern Michigan!
