After nine months of negotiation with hospital administrators, the nurses' union voted down the latest proposal from MyMichigan on Sept. 8. The three-day strike will start on Monday, Sept. 21.

This offer marks the 18th bargaining session between union members and hospital administrators. The nurses have been without a union contract since February.

The bills would stop hospitals from making nurses work extra hours, with some exceptions, and give nurses at least an eight-hour break following a 12-hour shift.
