After nine months of negotiation with hospital administrators, the nurses' union voted down the latest proposal from MyMichigan on Sept. 8. The three-day strike will start on Monday, Sept. 21.

This offer marks the 18th bargaining session between union members and hospital administrators. The nurses have been without a union contract since February.

Both sides have now negotiated for 17 rounds since January in an attempt to reach a new deal.

The facility is one of many investments MyMichigan has made in central and northern Michigan in recent years.

Nurses at the MyMichigan Medical Center in Alma, went on strike after they couldn't reach a new contract agreement with the hospital.

The primary care clinic will become a provider-based facility attached to MyMichigan's health care group.

Across Michigan, patients have been seeing week-long delays in getting their imaging results. Medical groups in the state, like MyMichigan Health, are working to reduce wait times and catch up on the backlog of tests.

The authorization comes after 17 rounds of failed negotiation for a new contract, a 5-day strike in April and an active National Labor Relations investigation following allegations of "unfair labor practices."
